A striking polished Mahogany Walking stick designed with carved deer horns as the handle, looking closely you will see a beautiful Bidri decor framed within Red stone, making this piece an elegant fashion accessory. The base of the stick has been strengthened with cylindrical Sterling Silver rim and rubber as an anti-slip.
Mahogany has a straight, fine, and even grain, and is relatively free of voids and pockets. Its reddish-brown color darkens over time, and displays a reddish sheen when polished. It has excellent workability, and is very durable. Historically, the tree's girth allowed for wide boards from traditional mahogany species. These properties make it a favourable wood for crafting cabinets and furniture.
Bidri is the art of inlaying different metals into one another—typically, gold or silver into a darkly oxidized steel background—to produce intricate patterns similar to Niello. The English term comes from a perceived resemblance to the rich tapestry patterns of damask silk.
This piece took a month and a half to complete, with six craftsmen and designers involved at various stages.
