A casually stylish evening clutch made from Indonesian Bamboo, hand-woven in wicker style by artisans with traditional skills. The bag is covered in red Silk with a motif of an Elephant, hand-painted by extremely skilled Balinese artists selectively commissioned by Rolf von Bueren. The design has been brought to life with the sparkle of the Elephant’s eyes set with a Rose Cut Diamond mounted on 22K Gold. This fashionably oriental clutch is functional and equally versatile – perfect a date night, a summer night out, an evening cocktail, all effortlessly elevating a casual yet graceful vibe. As a process, once the bamboo has been harvested, it is shredded into bamboo fiber strands, before being woven together into various forms. Being a natural material, the organic structure is extremely durable. The technique of weaving the bamboo fibers, ‘wicker’, is a style of weave commonly used for Asian household utility items like baskets and furniture. While it remains popular in antique and vintage designs, it also has modern applications, which Lotus Arts de Vivre pursued in the transformation of this clutch. The inspiration is primarily from the significance of Elephants in Thai Culture. Elephants are a traditional symbol of power and peace in Thailand, as well as a spiritual mentor for people of all walks of life. The elephant also symbolizes wisdom and loyalty and various other characteristics such as sensitivity, stability, intelligence and determination. Lotus Arts de Vivre embodies this belief in all our “elephant” designed products. The piece was finished in 6 weeks by over 6-7 craftsmen and designers involved at the various stages of wicker artistry, painting the motifs on silk by hand and the final embellishments with Diamonds.
