Emeralds are very soft and are among the most sought after of all gemstones and have been prized for centuries. While this quintessentially green gemstone is mined in a number of different regions around the world, the most popular mines and expensive Emeralds come from Panjshir Valley, in Afghanistan and Columbia.
The world’s finest diamonds came from the Golconda Sultanate of the 16th-17th century, the so-called “Diamond Capital” of the world, in what is now Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states in India. Today less than 2% of the Diamonds in the world can be classified as Golconda, almost impossible to find, extremely rare to touch, with nearly no access to purchase despite unlimited budgets by collectors. All the Golconda Jewelry were either with the Indian Royals, European Royals or their 21st century heirs, Governments and well-known private collectors who refuse to part with their heritage of preciousness. Golconda diamonds have a higher density and are never about cut, colour, clarity – Its about the rarity of the most precious gem in the world, its history and inaccessibility. For the connoisseurs, the Golconda diamonds which retain their original cuts are most appreciated.
The en Tremblante effect refers to a specific type of trembling effect in a piece of jewelry. Most commonly, this was done with brooches, starting in 18th century Paris. To create the en Tremblante effect, jewelers would mount parts of a piece of jewelry on a coiled spring which would then allow the piece to move in accordance with the wearer. This would bring the piece to life, giving more volume and brilliance to a piece that would otherwise remain still. The technique was used most often for floral motifs such as flowers, as well as wings such as those on butterflies. The style returned in the 1950s and 1960s and today has become a collector’s item.
From artistic conceptualization to design to finishing this piece took more than 4 months to complete with over 12 craftsmen involved at various stages.
